Car Hire from Vintage Travel

Let us book your car hire
Given the location of most of our properties, the use of a car is essential and moreover generally enhances the pleasure of your holiday by enabling you to explore the surrounding area at your own pace.
We strongly recommend that you book your hire car at the same time as you confirm your holiday property, to be sure of your choice of vehicle and the best price. This is especially true of larger vehicles (people carriers for 6, 7, 8 or 9 passengers) which are always in short supply.
For car hire pricing please select your destination from the locations shown in the panel on the right:
Some benefits of booking your car hire with Vintage Travel:
- Save time by dealing with all your accommodation, flight and car hire requirements in one call to our office (although we are also happy to arrange car hire even if you book flights independently).
- Booking your car in good time avoids the risk that your chosen vehicle might not be available, especially for larger vehicles or at peak times.
- Your vehicle will be ready and waiting at the airport of your arrival thus enabling you to proceed to your holiday property with the minimum of delay. It is equally simple at the end of your holiday: just return the car as instructed to the airport and proceed to your flight departure terminal.
- Skopelos
Arrangements for Skopelos are slightly different: flights arrive at the airport on the neighbouring island of Skiathos; our transfer service takes you to the ferry port for onward sea crossing to Skopelos, where your hire car will be waiting. On return, cars are left at the jetty, then simply board the ferry and the transfer vehicle will again be waiting to take you back to the airport.
- Pay for your car hire in sterling, as part of your holiday invoice, with no risk of last minute surcharges or exchange rate fluctuations.
- The weekly rates quoted include unlimited mileage and all local taxes.
Let us book your car hire
- We will confirm the price of your chosen vehicle when you book. For longer durations (e.g. 8, 9, 10 days etc), the price will be calculated on the basis of 1/7th weekly rate, per additional day. Vehicle hire of less than 7 days will usually be charged at 1/6th of the weekly rental per day (min 3 days).
- The number of days' rental is worked out on 24-hour periods from the time of pick-up. If you do not return the car at the specified time, you may be liable for the cost of an extra day's rental.
- Car hire is normally restricted to drivers of 23 years of age and over. There may be a charge to cover additional insurance for younger drivers under the age of 25.
- Babyseats and roof racks should be requested when booking. Below the weekly rental rates we show the approximate charges for these and other items where available, which are paid for locally when you collect the vehicle.
- The vehicle types described are for guidance on size and capacity only and the actual vehicle supplied may be of a different make and model. Whilst we will endeavour to request your preferred choice of vehicle, specific models cannot be guaranteed.
- Most vehicles are air conditioned, denoted by ‘A/C’.
- We always require details of your flight (airport of arrival, flight numbers and timings) in order to confirm a car hire booking.

Vehicles offered
Our hire vehicles shown under each area give a selection of the most popular sizes and types (generally these include: a small vehicle for a couple, a family sized car to accommodate up to 5 people with luggage, an automatic vehicle, an estate car, and larger people carrier type vehicles for 7/9 people).
If you require a vehicle type which is not listed, do contact us and we will endeavour to find one and quote a price.
Additional information
Vehicle capacity
Standard cars seat up to 5 people - 2 in front, 3 in back (middle seat may have a lap belt or diagonal belt). Group A 3 door vehicles are usually only suitable for 2 people + luggage. People carriers are described with the number of seats. Luggage capacity in all vehicles can vary enormously and cannot be specifically guaranteed.Collection of vehicles
Some suppliers have a desk in the airport arrival area, others have a representative waiting to meet you. The hire car may be picked up either at the airport terminal, in a nearby parking area or sometimes in the car hire company's compound to which you will be taken by transfer vehicle.Out of hours delivery charges
Most car hire companies are available during the hours that the airport is open. In some cases an additional charge is made for late collection. See the notes below the price panel for the relevant area.Cross border
Most car hire companies permit driving of the vehicle into a bordering country during the hire period and may make a charge for additional insurance of the vehicle. One way rental
In some areas it is possible to collect the vehicle at one airport and return it to another - a charge may apply.Island hopping
Our car hire companies do not allow you to take the vehicle from one island to another. We can of course arrange daily hire on another island if you wish to visit for a day.Fuel policy
Some suppliers require a deposit (usually by credit card authorisation) against a full tank of fuel. Others supply the vehicle with a full tank, which is to be paid for and the vehicle then returned (near) empty.Deposit
All car hire companies will require a deposit to be left by credit (not debit) card. The card must be in the name of the lead driver.Additional driver
The car hire price panel below the table of costs per month will show whether or not a second driver is included free and cost for subsequent drivers.Baby/child seats
Some car hire companies can supply an infant carrier but most stipulate a minimum age of 6 months for the standard type of child seat. For liability reasons, some suppliers may not be able to strap in the child seat to the car on your behalf.Child booster seats
The information below the price panel indicates if they can be supplied.Roof racks
Not offered in all areas, see price panel. May only be available for certain vehicles.Insurance
Vehicles carry full comprehensive insurance (against Collision Damage, Loss, Theft and Third Party Liability) and are covered for all roads. However there is usually an Insurance Excess which means that you are still liable for charges, i.e. if the vehicle is damaged or stolen, the driver is asked to pay a portion of the repair or replacement costs.Larger vehicles
Larger vehicles such as minibuses are always in short supply and are generally difficult to get at the last minute. If you require one of these vehicles we strongly recommend that you book it at the same time as booking your property.
Insure the Excess
Your car rental agreement normally includes cover for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft. However you are still liable for the Excess on CDW and Theft.
When a rental car is damaged or stolen, the driver is asked to pay the first portion of the repair or replacement costs. This is known as the Excess.
For a low, annual premium (currently £49), our insurance partners can provide excess insurance to protect against Excess charges whenever you rent a car.
This covers you not only for the total amount of Excess for which you are liable if the car is damaged or stolen, but also for damage to the roof and undercarriage of the car, and windows and tyres.
This policy will give you peace of mind while renting cars in Europe for the next 12 months. It is valid for 31 continuous days for any one rental and covers the policyholder and all additional drivers on the car rental agreement for multiple use throughout the year. A daily policy is also available (£4.75 per day).
