Portugal is world-renowned for having beautiful, top-quality beaches and none more so than the beaches of Praia do Paco and Praia de Carreco. These particularly scenic beaches are just ten minutes apart and are situated on one of the most naturally stunning and untouched coastlines of the Northern Portugal, just north of Viano do Castelo.

One of the main attractions of this beautiful region is the Montedor Lighthouse, which is located just eight kilometres north of Viano do Castelo and 11 kilometres to the south of the estuary of the River Minho. Looking out across the divine beaches of Paco to the north and Carreco to the south, the views from this granite tower really are a ‘sight for sore eyes’.

As equally as impressive as this old lighthouse, which was built in 1910, are the cliffs upon where it stands. Known as the Montedor cliffs, these domineeringly captivating cliffs are well known for their rock art, which has been dated back to 3,000BC.

Nestled below the lighthouse is Casa do Farol do Montedor, an outstanding four bedroom luxury villa in Northern Portugal (pictured above), which Vintage Travel is delighted to now have on our books.
