Barely a week can go by during the summer when Menorca is not putting on a fiesta in one way or another. From June to September virtually every town and village celebrates its own patron saint, and while many of these saint’s days are fixed at a specific date, others are celebrated at the most convenient date on a given year.
Although regardless of its date, each village has its own interpretation of how a fiesta should be run, meaning you could keep going from town to town on Menorca and rarely witness a fiesta that mimics the last.

If you are wondering where the ‘water’ part fits in then its in the Fiesta de San Clemente’s tradition for the people of the town to sit in the windows of their houses and soak anyone who comes near the house with water.
‘Soaked’ visitors soon dry in the hot Menorcan sun and join the hundreds of other fiesta revellers in roaming San Clemente’s streets, gathering at the many bars, concerts, fair attractions, kiosks and stalls set out during this bubbly and often mind-boggling fiesta.

Last weekend in August
This two-week fiesta spans from the last weekend in August until the 4th September and offers an extensive programme of quality events and activities. The Fiesta de Sant Luis is in honour of Sant Louis IX, with the actual saint’s day being on 25 August.
This lively and well-organised fiesta provides a happy and memorable time for all the family, whereby the whole of Sant Lluis town gets involved in one way or another in the public dances, carnival costumes and giants or the traditional bands.
Throw in the many street parties that take place during the two weeks, the decorated floats, the fireworks and of course all the eating, drinking and merriment that goes hand in hand with a Spanish fiesta – Definitely a Menorca summer fiesta not to be missed!
