With whitewashed fishing villages, vibrant cities, an exhilarating coastline and sublime verdurous scenery, Northern Portugal really is a great place to experience culture, beauty, pace and tranquillity, in equal doses.

Casa da gale

If you are looking for accommodation to do this exceptionally pretty and exciting part of Europe the justice it deserves, then Vintage Travel recommends the luxury villa in Northern Portugal, Casa da Gale in Moledol, which is simply exquisite both on the inside and out.

With three immaculately furnished bedrooms and two bathrooms, Casa da Gale can sleep up to four people with ease and comfort. Despite the soaring temperatures this part of Europe experiences in the summer, Casa da Gala’s thick stone walls, not only gives the villa a cosy and tasteful ambience, but also makes it stay pleasurably cool during the hot months.

Although despite how welcoming, spacious and comfy the house’s interior may be, it is the outside Casa da Gale where you are likely to spend the majority of your holiday.

The luxury villa in Northern Portugal has a delightful terraced garden, beautifully mature with a fertile lawn, super swimming pool, fragrant fruit trees hanging over head, as well as many pendulous climbing plants growing up the pretty stone walls. There is a wonderful dining area on the terrace, which can be covered by an overhead canopy when deemed necessary.

Casa da Gale’s pool is a large, can be heated during those nippier evenings and with grand Roman steps, invites all the family to take a refreshing dip. There is also an outside barbeque area for those all- important ‘lively’ nights spent at home.

In fact this quirky and bustling exterior provides the perfect starting point for the tremendous countryside that borders the house, with the mighty Atlantic Ocean being the final component of a vista dominated by truly unspoilt rural bliss.

When venturing beyond the property’s pretty stone walls, the beach at Moledo is well worth a visit. Being just one kilometre away, even slow walkers should be able to reach it in 15 minutes or so. This beautiful sandy beach sweeps round in a graceful arc and is stark, pristine and inviting. It is safe to say that the beach at Moledo is sure to be a daily destination for anyone staying at the Casa da Gale.

There are numerous restaurants in the vicinity, the nearest one being just 300 metres away from the house. Besides the delicious dishes and quality wine, one of the biggest pleasures of visiting the restaurants and bars along the front at Moledo is looking over the town’s marvellous 17th century fortress.

With lovely beaches abound in either direction from Moledo, backed by contrasting lush pine forests, it is no wonder that Moledo is a top holiday destination for the Portuguese themselves – The old saying ‘When in Rome do as the Romans do,’ comes to mind…
