A charming rental cottage in Siena, Tuscany – Casa Cetinale

Casa Cetinale is located in the wildly verdure countryside of Marmoraia in the vicinity of Siena. With huge old beams holding up the wooden floor above and a wrought iron rail adorning the stairway, the beauty of the cottage’s natural materials is certainly in-keeping with its earthy surroundings.

The open fireplace is a heartening sight to those who may think about renting the house in the colder months when night times can be a tad on the chilly side in the Tuscan hills.

Set amongst trees and shrubs Casa Cetinale is built on a gentle rolling hillside, which as you might expect has smashing views of nature all around. This characterful cottage has two bedrooms and can sleep up to four guests.

The garden and courtyard are exceptionally pretty surrounded by the soothing blissful smells of herbs and lavender. Being set in the heart of this rural bliss the property’s private pool is ever so inviting, the perfect place to make slow swimming stroke through silent ripples of water as the setting sun casts an orange glow on the surrounding hills and trees.

For those familiar with the James Bond film “A quantum of solace” you may remember the nail-biting opening scene of the film, which was set in Sienna. As Bond was busy fighting a villain, a horse race was going, which augmented the pace and chaotic excitement of the scene. The race is known as the Palio and it is run twice a year, in July and August, through Siena’s streets. It is a tradition which dates back to medieval times and never fails to attract crowds of eager spectators. The three minute race is televised and given its fierce competition and the thunderous sounds of galloping hooves, it is not difficult to understand why the Palio was replicated in a Bond scene.

The “Palio di Siena” is just another reason why visiting the stunning city of Siena should definitely be on the more cultured of traveller’s agenda. Staying just 20 minutes away in the picturesque cottage of Casa Cetinale would ensure your accomodation is as memorable and lovely as Siena and Tuscany itself.
