A truly stunning large villa in Galicia – Pedra Rubia

Pedra Rubia is situated above the shores of the Rais Baixas in Galicia with the most incredible ocean and river estuary views. Looking down the river estuary towards the wide open Atlantic Ocean, the protected and beautiful Isles de Cies that are a mere 45-minute boat ride away dominates the horizon.

Pedra Rubia

The location of this stunning large villa in Galicia is second to none and Vintage Travel is ecstatic that the marvellous Pedra Rubia has recently been added to its Galician portfolio.

Pedra Rubia consists of three double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms and can quite comfortably sleep up to ten guests. Four of the bedrooms can be found on the first floor, two of which have doors leading onto a covered terrace, enabling guests to slip between being inside this lavish house and being ensconced in the beauty of its exterior. If playing French billiards is your thing, you may want to choose the bedroom on the second floor, which has a billiards room next door.

One of the greatest assets of this large villa in Galicia is that you don’t have to be outside to be able to drink up the sensational views Pedra Rubia is blessed with, as the villa’s large windows not only create a light and airy feel but also means guests can glimpse sight of the stupendous coastal views from practically every room.

One can ponder Sir Francis Drake and his band of Royal sanctioned pirates as they weighed anchor and hid menacingly on the far side of the Isles de Cies, waiting for the right opportunity to strike a blow on the Galician mainland.  Nowadays the riches of this stretch of coastline, are exploited to catch fish which is sold to restaurants and at the local fish markets.  The mussel rafts float on the water, which has the ideal conditions for shellfish to thrive, providing seafood lovers with some mouth-wateringly fresh and tasty dishes.

Once you’ve pondered the many merits of the coastal vista, taking a dip in Pedra Rubia’s swimming pool is simply a must. Located on the sea facing side of the house, the pool is glamorously positioned like something Hollywood movie stars would flaunt around with their idle Martinis. You could kick off your lazy flip flops and walk bare foot around the well cut grass lawn or do bronze statue imitations on a sun bed. Read a book under cover on a terrace to a background of light birdsong or simply float in the pool with empty and unbroken thoughts in a beautiful world – the choice is yours at Pedra Rubia.

Or if your holiday comes with aspirations to do some work or merely post photos on the social media channels of this area of exceptional beauty to the envy of friends back home, then you’ll be pleased to know that Pedra Rubia has Wi-Fi.

If you feel the need for a dip in salt water or to be foot massaged by spotless white sand, then a short ten-minute stroll from the house will see you arrive at a gorgeous little beach called Santa Marta. In fact, there are many clean and lovely beaches in this glorious part of Europe and Santa Marta has to be one of the loveliest and fortunately for guests at Pedra Rubia, is just a short stroll away.

Once you’ve ticked off a visit to Santa Marta and a boat trip to the protected islands of Cies, meandering around the nearby town of Cangas will warrant a great day out, as this lively seaside town has lots to offer, including restaurants and bars as well as a colourful weekly market.
