Autumn Painting Week on Paxos

Void of the unrelenting whirl of mass tourism, Paxos is a haven of tranquillity and peace. They say the most beautiful things come in small packages. Being just seven miles long and three miles wide, Paxos is certainly small and with more than 30 coves on the west of the island, jagged cliff tops on the left and an interior laden with lofty fragrant pines and olive trees, Paxos is most definitely beautiful.

Testament to the active painting scene that Paxos is home to all year round is the Autumn Painting Week, which takes place in late September and early October. This enlighteningly creative week enables artists of all abilities to discover and explore new artistic techniques and skills by putting the natural beauty of Paxos onto the canvas.

The Autumn Painting Week is based in the unspoilt village of Loggos, the smallest of Paxos’ three coastal villages. Tuition groups take place in the morning and in the early evening.

The week is led by Helen Halliday, an experienced art teacher who has taught painting as far away as India. The Autumn Painting Week is designed to nurture each individual’s artistic talent by experimenting with materials, composition and colour.

Guests will also have the opportunity to try-out watercolours and various mixed media techniques.
