Why autumn is the perfect season for a holiday on Mallorca

With cooler temperatures, less crowds and often reduced prices, autumn can be a great season to jet off to sunnier climes. And no more so than the island of Mallorca. If you’re thinking of a quick-autumnal escape to this beautiful Spanish island, then take a look at the following reasons why autumn is the perfect season for a holiday on Mallorca.

Cape Formentor

An enviable climate

Mallorca is a year-round holiday destination that enjoys sunshine and mild temperatures right through the winter. Though if you still crave some warm weather without the oppressive heat of the summer, autumn is typically blessed with sunshine and warmth on Mallorca, with temperatures high enough to enjoy swimming and sunbathing.

Less crowds

Being one of Spain’s most popular tourist resorts, it goes without saying that many parts of Mallorca can get busy during the summer. In the off-season months of October and November the crowds have left the island, with the restaurants, bars, attractions and beaches being significantly quieter, providing the perfect time of year to explore and enjoy this magical island to the maximum.

Get outdoors

With the favourable weather and lack of crowds, autumn can be a great time to get outdoors and explore the maze of walks, trials, climbs and coastal paths, the island is home to, many of which boast incredible views of the surrounding sea and the Tramuntana Mountains.

Enjoy birdwatching

With Ospreys, Black Vultures, Scops Owls, Night Herons, Bee-eaters, Hoopoes and a whole host of other interesting species of bird, autumn is a fantastic time of the year to enjoy a spot of birdwatching on Mallorca, particularly around Pollenca.

Walk leisurely around the markets

Mallorca, like Spain in general, is well known for its bustling markets, selling everything from delicious local produce to quirky handmade gifts. Though without so many tourists on the island, autumn can be the perfect time to explore the different stalls at a more leisurely pace.
