Museo Nacional d’art de Catalunya

At the Museo Nacional d’art de Cataluyna, the actual building is a work of art in its own right. Majestic and grand, when you gaze upon this museum for the first time, you know it houses something very special. Resonant of a spectacular palace or a cathedral to the uninitiated, Romanesque and Gothic art at the highest order can be found at the Museo Nacional d’art de Catalunya.

Museu Maritim

Museu Maritim is housed in an old Gothic shipyard and shows the importance of Barcelona as a seafaring city through the ages. There is a replica of Don Juan of Austria’s flagship, which you can board for free as part of the museum entrance fee. A film is shown on board the ship, which is brings to life the horrors of the unsanitary of working, sleeping and eating in quarters below deck.

Fundacio Joan Miro

This dazzling white building was a gift from the Catalan painter Joan Miro to his beloved city and was designed by his architect friend Josep Llois Sert. Museo Picasso

Museo Picasso is the most visited museum in Barcelona and houses work by the artist dating from the 1890s. The museum is housed in old mansion buildings in five adjoining medieval palace called the Carrer de Montcada. With over 3,500 works by the painter, Museo Picasso has the most complete collection of Picasso’s works.
