Celebrate Halloween 2012 in Ibiza
With the summer and ‘party’ season well and truly over, those seeking the sun, sea and a great party atmosphere would be disappointed by visiting Ibiza in late October, right? Wrong! On the contrary, the island of Ibiza is home to a vibrant Halloween scene, where the sea is guaranteed, the sun is – almost – guaranteed and finding a nearby party is as easy as ‘un, dos, tres’!
The Spanish, simply put, adore Halloween and, similar to all nations and cultures, have their own way of celebrating it.
Known as the Dia de las Brugas (the Day of the Witches), Halloween in Ibiza is a three-day celebration that kick starts on October 31st and concludes on November 2nd with the Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead). In typical Spanish fashion, flamboyant parades take place in most of the cities, towns and even villages, dominated by witches, wizards, ghosts, ghouls and zombies.
This electrifying Halloween atmosphere the Spanish proudly adhere to, is certainly present on Ibiza, which seems to become progressively more lively and eccentric with each passing year. In fact most clubs, bars and restaurants on Ibiza deck out their venues with terrifically gaudy and ostentatious décor as fabulously daring Halloween themed nights compete to draw in the punters.
One of the most popular and notorious Halloween parties on Ibiza is held at the Bambuddha Grove. With an unmistakable décor and culinary style that has taken influences from China, India and the Middle East, extravagance is at this heart of this popular restaurant in Santa Eulalia, especially at Halloween.
With a strict “no costume, no entry” policy, booking a table for the Bambuddha Grove party is highly recommended, and needless to say the costumes here are taken so seriously they could rival the ghosts and ghouls on Michael Jackson’s Thriller video.
Another great Halloween party on Ibiza is held at the Aura in San Lorenzo, a magnificently chilled out bar and restaurant. On Halloween night professional face painters are present to paint guests faces, adding to the appeal and excitement of the party!
