Celebrating Bastille Day in St. Tropez

Alongside Nice and Cannes, St. Tropez on the Cote d’Azur is one of the most glamorous places in the whole of France. With its yacht-laden harbour, exclusive nightclubs, beautiful beach and a view that stretches across the sea to the Maures mountains, it’s not difficult to appreciate why St. Tropez has been attracting A-listers and artists in their droves for decades.

If you’re lucky enough to be heading to this exclusive French seaside town this summer you may want to think about being there on Bastille Day, when St. Tropez is even more vibrant and pulsating than usual.

The French national day, known as Bastille Day, is held each year on July 14. While the whole of France goes off with a bang as cities, towns and villages, battle it out to present the most colourful and awesome firework display, as you might imagine, the ultra-glamorous town of St. Tropez takes some beating in terms of putting on spectacular and memorable Bastille Day celebration.

Asides an incredible firework display after dark, which typically takes place between 10 – 11pm, numerous activities are put on in the town.

To mark and celebrate the day which saw the storming of the Bastille in Paris in 1789, when the injustices of the 18th century royal rule were overturned and common liberties returned, St. Tropez holds street parties, picnics, activities for children and plenty of dancing, drinking and merriment are had by all.
