Golf on Lanzarote: Where conditions are near perfect

With its year-round climate of sunshine and mild temperatures and a number of new golf courses on the horizon, Lanzarote is on target to rival the likes of the Algarve and the Costa del Sol in earning a top spot as Europe’s leading golf destination.

Have a look at the two biggest golf courses on the calm and charismatic  island of Lanzarote.

Golfing Costa Teguise

Lanzarote’s first golf course was opened in 1978. Costa Teguise is a 18-hole golf course is a diverse mix of mild and more challenging holes. With more than 3500 palm tress scattered around the course and stunning views of the distance mountains and Atlantic Ocean, you’d be hard pushed to find a golf course in such an inspiring environment.

This well-facilitated Lanzarote golf course has been given the privileged accolade of being the best -designed golf course on the Canary Islands.

Lanzarote Golf Resort

Lanzarote Golf Resort was designed by the internationally-renowned American designer Ron Kirby and the champion golfer Jack Nicklaus. This 18-hole course is a short two-minute drive from the bustling town of Puerto del Carmen.

Surrounded by jagged volcanoes and spectacular views that span across the Atlantic, Lanzarote Golf Resort enjoys a privileged position. The resort has excellent facilities, including a clubhouse, reception, bathrooms, cafeteria and a cosy terrace restaurant. There is also a driving range and putting green and clubs are available to rent.

This summer Lanzarote Golf Resort is putting on a ‘Green Kids Lanzarote Golf Ranking 2014’. Throughout the summer children will have the opportunity to learn and perfect golfing skills. For more information on the Ranking Green Kids Lanzarote Golf 2014 programme  visit the Lanzarote Golf Resort website.

Further golf courses are being planned on the southern side of the island at Playa Blanca, Puerto Calero and the Marina resort.

With its cloudless, deep-blue skies, gentle warm breeze and breathtaking landscape that combines volcanoes, valleys and the ocean, it is difficult to believe that Lanzarote won’t become one of Europe’s top golfing destinations.
