Holiday Villas In Umbria
Umbria has to be one of the prettiest, culturally rich spots in mid Italy. It sits just east of Tuscany, north of Rome and west of the Marches, right in the middle of what would be the national calf muscle if Italy really were a leg encased in an Italian leather boot. It’s a medieval showground rich with rolling hills dotted with castles, fortresses and watchtowers dating back to medieval times and way beyond.
The Umbrian hills, mountains and valley’s rivers are world famous for their mysticism and enchantment. If you love the great outdoors then you can’t afford to not visit the area at least once in your lifetime.
We manage the most amazing property in the region, an ancient farm house dating back to 1790, Il Borghetto Francescano comprises a main loggia plus two interlinking apartments – in a separate annexe – which can sleep up to 20 in eight bedrooms, but a smaller party of up to 12 can be accommodated in the six bedroom main house.
In addition to the private pool, the house has an extensive lawned garden, large sun terrace, table tennis and barbecue and enjoys fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and towards the hill towns of Bettona and Perugia. The views are outstanding if we may say so ourselves!
There are many original features – in the living area, for example, are the metal rings used for tethering horses and donkeys – plus handmade wooden pieces of furniture and unusual artworks by a local ‘artigiano’ can be found throughout.
Typically a week’s rental in holiday season costs – for a party of up to 12 – £3595 whilst for between 13 and 20 people the cost is £4895. Return UK flights and car hire are not included, but these can be arranged on request.
A selection of additional services – such as a chef service, cooking lessons, guided visits around the local area and cycle hire – can be arranged.
There’s also a variety of festivals taking place in Umbria over the summer months including the Umbria Jazz Festival in mid July, music and events at Montefalco in early August and, at the end of July, the unique Palio delle Barche – a boat race on land and water – at Passignano sul Trasimeno.
