Horse riding trip through the Chianti region of Tuscany

If you are in Tuscany with the wind in your hair and the sun on your arms, why not make your Tuscan experience even more memorable by embarking on a fabulous horse riding session through the stunning region of Chianti?

You don’t have to be an experienced horse rider to enjoy this great day out either. Not far from the historic city of Florence, experienced guides will give you adequate instruction before you set off on a horseback trek through the beautiful Chianti wine growing region.

Asides its vast swathes of rolling emerald hillsides intermittently broken by clusters of lofty cypress trees, stone walls and tiny churches, what makes the Tuscan countryside so appealing is its stillness. Because so many people have abandoned the villages and farms to migrate to the cities, Chianti possesses a calm, stillness and tranquillity that is extremely rare.

The exceptionally quiet and unmoving Chianti landscape provides the perfect environment for trekking on horseback. In fact there couldn’t be a much better way to discover and explore this unspoilt region of Italy than by trail riding.

As horse riding is a popular excursion in the Chianti there are numerous professional horse riding and pony trekking centres in the region. Many offer rides with an English-speaking local guide.

After you have ridden through this superb wine growing country, what could be better than returning to your base for a delicious meal washed down with local wine?

Chianti grows many of Italy’s most prestigious wines and you will get the chance to taste such local delights when you visit the region.

However, it would be a good idea to do the horse riding before the wine tasting in Chianti!
