Ibiza, Provence and Catalonia: Three great European destinations for October half-term
Are you thinking about going away this October half-term? If enjoying some autumn sunshine sounds appealing then you might want to head to the sunnier climes of Ibiza, Provence or Catalonia. Granted, we can never guarantee the weather but historically these three destinations are often bathed in sunshine in October, and what is more concrete; there is plenty to see and do for a week of family fun.
Ibiza
As The Guardian once asked, “Who said Ibiza isn’t family friendly?” Thousands of families flock to the sun-drenched island of Ibiza each year.
From fabulous family-friendly beaches to activities geared up for youngsters, you’re never bored of things to do on this vibrant and friendly island. We have to admit, with cooler weather and less crowds; the October half-term can be the perfect time to discover Ibiza with the family.
Provence
Another great choice of destination for a half-term break is Provence. Not only are the many beauty spots and tourist highlights in this beautifully diverse land less heavily-populated out of the high season but also the climate can be more tolerable, especially with youngsters in tow.
There are many great things to do in this region of France for all ages. You may have teenagers who would be thrilled by the prospect of kayaking or canoeing in one of Provence’s many great rivers. You may have little ones who would enjoy the thrill of riding around the beautiful Provence countryside by boat or train. Whatever age your children are you’ll find plenty to do to keep them entertained during half-term.
Catalonia
With its exhilarating coastline that winds round a backdrop of pine-clad forests, traditional yet up-market fishing villages and many lively coastal towns, Catalonia has long been a favourite destination for families.
Again, without the crowds of the summer yet with plenty of great activities on offer and thrilling sites to experience, the October half-term can be the perfect time to take the family to Catalonia.
Whether you opt for the many iconic sites of Barcelona or a more traditional beach holiday in the affluent fishing town of Calella de Palafrugell, the wonderfully diverse region of Catalonia has something for everyone to enjoy.
