Mallorca: A runner’s paradise (and Lanzarote too!)

Being blessed with a diverse and stunning landscape, Mallorca is perfect for both trail and road running. For runners seeking a flat coastal run, routes along Pollenca Bay, Alcudia Bay or Palma Bay go on for miles and miles.

Or for those looking for a steep and challenging fell run, the ancient pathways that ascend and descend, linking mountain villages, provide the perfect hilly route.

With the restoration of the Long Distance Dry Stone Route, trail running is becoming more and more popular in the Serra de Tramuntana, the huge mountain range that runs from the southwest to the northeast of the island.

If you’re a competing runner who’s looking for somewhere a bit different – and a bit special – to race, you might want to consider heading to the sunny climes of Mallorca this October.

TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca

On 14 October 2014 athletes and amateur runners of all ages will be gathering on the starting line in Palma de Mallorca for a series of events.

Runners can opt to participate in a marathon, half marathon, 10K or a walking events at the 11th TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca.

For all inspiring child athletes the UNICEF Kids Run takes place the day before the TUI race.

This is a true annual sporting highlight on Mallorca, which runners and spectators both thoroughly enjoy.

On November 29, 2014, runners of all ages and abilities will take to the sunny streets of Costa Teguise to compete in the marathon – different island but we’re sure it’s an equally as inspiring, not to mention sunny place to run a marathon.
