Manor La Tourrette – A manor house rental in South-West France
If you are looking for a manor house rental in South-West France, you will appreciate the magnificent Manor La Tourrette. La Tourrette is an incredible French manor house from the mid-19th century, which has been painstakingly restored to its former glory and even beyond.
This imposing manor sleeps 14 comfortably and will make a luxurious getaway for an extended family or a group of friends aspiring to stay in astounding accommodation.
Located in a quiet hamlet on the outskirts of the tranquil village of Mirandol-Bourgnounac this resplendent mansion boasts sweeping view of the leafy Tarn, a luxuriantly apt setting for such an impressive property.
With six bedrooms and three bathrooms La Tourrette could easily be mistaken for a small hotel, particularly from the pool area where glimpses of its magnificent arches and pale blue shutters create a quintessential French hotel ambiance. Many of the old architectural features have been sympathetically incorporated into the recent renovation which consequents in character and charisma radiating from every room. These old-fashioned features marry effortlessly with state-of-the-art accessories. This delightful harmony of old and new is epitomised in the old wooden sink unit topped with the latest porcelain taps.
The ground floor’s living room, sitting room and kitchen have been lovingly decorated to retain the period of when the house was built. This traditional yet elegant marriage continues to the first floor where three fabulous double bedrooms will enthral all who feast their eyes on them. Though it has to be said that it is the master bedroom complete with a roll top bath which is likely to cause some quarrels in the ‘dibs’ stakes!
If visitors aren’t left dizzy exploring the different floors, rooms and nooks and crannies of this incredible manor’s interior then wait until they explore the outside.
It is difficult to decide what takes centre stage in La Tourrette’s exterior – Is it the huge pool at 12 x 5 metres that lies adjacent to open sunshine terraces and a sprawling grass lawn? Is it the stunning vistas of surrounding fields, valleys and woods? Or perhaps it’s the covered outside dining area which looks out over the garden through delightful French arches. It has to be said that the walkway through the garden up to La Tourette’s entrance covered with an arch of pendulous wisteria and honeysuckle certainly takes some beating in what’s the manor’s biggest wow factor.
This magnificent manor is not far from the village of Mirandol-Bourgnonac where most provisions can be bought. With a couple of bars and restaurants, guests can experience archetypal wining and dining of this untouched corner of South Western France. A little further a field – approximately 12 kilometres – is the town of Carmaux, which is particularly interesting to visit on a Friday when the colourful and vibrant market is held. 30km away from the La Tourette is the region’s capital, Albi. Albi was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 2010 and with the Cathedral Saint Cecile, considered to be a masterpiece of the Southern Gothic style; it’s not difficult to understand why.
