Playing Golf in Provence
Provence is known for its dramatic landscapes, all year sun, cultural wealth… and some rather special golf courses of which there are around a dozen to choose from. Wherever you choose to stay in Provence you can be assured of a golf course being not too far away!
Sainte-Victoire is Situated very close to Aix-en-Provence and is the oldest golf course in Provence was created in 1935. It’s laid out in the midst of pines and scrubland and enjoys views of the Château de l’Arc.
Slightly further afield (North of Berre Lake) you’ll find the Miramas course, which has two quite distinct sections; one which is flat but dotted with tricky water obstacles and the other with stunning rolling fairways.
Around 30 miles further north you’ll find the Pont-Royal golf course situated on a vast plateau overlooking the Durance valley within 445 acres of estate. This course is rather special because it was designed by Spanish champion golfer, Severiano Ballesteros. This is certainly a course for the more demanding players.
The final golf course we’ll highlight is the Servanes, which is an 18 hole course flagged with vines and olive trees. The clubhouse is a stunning 18th-century former country home.
