The beaches of San Carlos, Ibiza
San Carlos in Ibiza might be small but it is well known, with good reason. This pretty village to the north of Santa Eulalia has long been a popular destination for artists and those seeking some cultural and scenic inspiration.
With one of Ibiza’s most vibrant live music events taking place here each year and traditional arts and crafts market being held every Saturday morning, the well-established ‘hippy spirit’ is still very much alive in San Carlos.
Besides its laidback, bohemian vibe, another alluring trait of San Carlos, is the number of great beaches that lie within its vicinity.
Cala Boix Beach
Cala Boix Beach is just ten minutes from San Carlos and is blessed with a truly picturesque setting. This secluded beach is enclosed by high cliffs and can be reached by climbing down some fairly steep concrete steps.
Despite its secluded spot, Cala Boix Beach is well-facilitated with loungers, parasols, showers, toilets, a bar and restaurants.
Cala Nova Beach
Cala Nova Beach is another great choice of beach in this vicinity. This long sandy beach stretches round the coast, its golden sand lapped by shallow clear water.
Cala Nova is also one of the few beaches on Ibiza that generates enough wind to create the right conditions for a surf. Consequently, the beach is popular amongst surfers.
Cala Lena Beach
If a quieter beach is more up your street then Cala Lena would make a good choice. This beautiful beach is just a ten-minute drive from San Carlos. The beach curves round and its fine white sand is backed by slopes laden with pine trees.
With shallow water extending fairly far out, Cala Lena Beach is a great spot for families with young children. The beach has a bar and restaurant located at one end, meaning tasty tapas and ice-cold drinks can be conveniently enjoyed when spending a day on this stunning Ibizan beach.
