St Tropez, a town oozing in wealth and opulence, synonymic with yachts, fine wine, beautiful bronzed bodies and Bridgette Bardot, is at the very height of the sophistication the South of France has become renowned for. It is of little surprise that the town comprises of dozens of cafes and restaurants featuring the very best of both local and international cuisine and wine, creating an arduous decision for many visitors to the area.

Dining in St Tropez sees French cuisine at its finest

Luckily help is at hand to help distinguish the crème-de-la-crème of restaurants in St Tropez. Here are our top three eateries of this rather elite and special part of the French Riviera.

La Caranzza Restaurant

This one may be slightly unfair, as La Caranzza and its assets, is a luxury only available to the superrich. Being technically a yacht, although it could be mistaken for a large, stylish waterside apartment, clients can hire La Carenzza, its chef and its crew, who are on a 24-hour call out, all for a mere £4,900 a day. Food is light but ‘decadently spread’ in the most elegant of surroundings and accompanied by some of the finest champagne in France.

Le Byblos Restaurant

With the likes of Mick and Bianca Jagger celebrating their wedding by the pool here, Le Byblos is one of the most exquisite and exclusive hotels in St Tropez. In keeping with its extravagance, the menu in Le Byblos restaurant consists of a complex precious stone colour theme. ‘Emerald’ refers to the vegetarian section, ‘Ruby’ to meat and ‘Azure’ to fish – Although regardless of the pretensions, the food is described as ‘divine’.

Café de Paris Restaurant

Decadence, fashion and the finest of French and European cuisine is at the heart of the Café de Paris in St Tropez, making it one of the town’s trendiest eateries. Quite typically of such a fashionable restaurant, sushi is the speciality on the Café de Paris menu. Located in the port underneath the famous Hotel Sube, the heavy red velvet décor creates an intimate ambience and remains one of the favourite places to dine in St Tropez.
