Villa Pazo De Mendez – a perfect Galician holiday villa

Pazo De Mendez is a charming and attractive 300 year-old house, which is situated in the Galacian countryside just 3.5k from a wonderful beach called Playa de America and a ten minute drive from the lively coastal town of Baiona.

Pazo de Mendez

With an indoor dining room that generates a feeling that you are dining at a corner table in a top-notch restaurant to the huge Galician real granite building blocks, Pazo de Mendez  as ample character. In fact from the moment that you walk through the grand castellated stone walled entrance you get the feeling that this stone cottage is a bit special.

This fascinating Galician holiday villa sleeps up to four people, boasting a double and a twin bedroom. The walls are made with the huge Galician granite blocks and this is what gives the house much of its ‘old-world’ charm.

The Galician’s still use granite blocks in new-builds but the blocks are cut in uniform symmetrical patterns and just don’t have the individual appeal of these beautiful randomly cut blocks from a bygone age. Add wooden beams into the equation and a woodburning stove for those cooler Galician nights and you have the ideal look for those who enjoy living amongst all that is snug and cosy!

Externally, the Galician holiday villa has incredible long-reaching views that surround the immaculately-kept garden impeccably. The garden is terraced and interestingly laid out surrounding a grand and wholly inviting pool.

As Galician summers can get deliciously warm, there is an emphasis on living outside at Pazo de Mendez, with a dining area under a covered terrace. Although it has to be said, as nice as it is, it would be difficult to beat the feelings of lavishness and luxury, the villa’s internal ‘posh restaurant-esque’ dining area would generate!

If you can manage to prize yourself away from the quaintness of Pazo de Mendez and its idyllic dining settings, the restaurant in the hamlet of Vilarino de Arriba is well worth a visit, which being reachable by foot, means that you can relax and enjoy the local wine.

The nearby sweeping coastline of the Riax Baixes is warrants a great day out that includes the Playa America beach and its golden sands set within a backdrop of an equally as soft emerald carpet, making it a great family-friendly spot.

The medieval town of Baiona is only ten kilometres away, with its medieval historical centre, making this lively Galician town a popular haunt for tourists and with some fantastic quirky boutiques, is the perfect place to take home a treasured souvenir to remind you of your great Galician holiday.
